Technical bulletin: X-ray Powder Diffraction

In this technical bulletin, you will learn about X-ray Powder Diffraction and how this technology is being used in Thunder Bay, to serve the region. XRD is used to "fingerprint" of the substance, and it allows the laboratory to identify and characterize polycrystalline phases. To increase certainty, XRD data is often used in combination with other mineral analytical techniques such as SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and optical microscopy.
