Resource Centre for Occupational Health & Safety Closes

Effective January 5, 2009, the Resource Centre for Occupational Health and Safety at Lakehead University will be closing its doors.  The staff, including the Director, will be moving to True Grit Consulting Ltd, in their new Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health and Safety division. It is the end of an era. The Resource Centre (RCOHS) has been a part of Lakehead University for 30 years.  The RCOHS was  the last "resource centre" of five originally established at Ontario universities and the one that arguably came closest to fulfilling the vision of Bette Stephenson, Minister of Labour in 1978.  Over these years the RCOHS has employed nearly 20 science professionals and developed contacts between Lakehead University and the region in most workplace sectors. During the many years of operation on campus, the RCOHS has provided technical support for occupational health and safety programs in hundreds of Northwestern Ontario workplaces.

If you have any questions about current projects or require further information, please call Ina Chomyshyn until January 5, 2009, at 343-8900.  After January 5, 2009, please contact the Resource Centre, c/o the Lakehead University Centre for Analytical Services (LUCAS) at 343-8590.
